Our story
01The gap nobody talks about
Every job posting for a data engineer asks for experience. Every path to experience asks for a job.
That is the gap. And for someone coming from a non-IT background, whether a commerce graduate, a support executive, a mechanical engineer, a teacher, someone restarting after a career break, that gap looks less like a step and more like a canyon.
Most training doesn't help. It teaches tools in isolation. It hands over a certificate. It leaves out the part where you actually have to sit in front of a hiring manager and explain why your pipeline failed at 3 AM and what you did about it.
02Why we exist
GAP Learning was built by people who crossed that gap themselves, then spent years on the other side, building and running data platforms for a living.
We teach one thing: the data engineering role. Not twelve technologies loosely bundled together. One job. Taught in the depth the job actually requires.
Our mentors are working data engineers. They teach in the evening what they debugged that morning. That means our learners get more than syntax. They get context. Why this architecture and not that one. What breaks in production. What a good code review sounds like. What interviewers are really testing when they ask about partitioning.
03Who we build for
You don't need a computer science degree. You don't need to have written a line of code. You need time, consistency, and a real reason to switch.
We take you from your first SQL query to a portfolio of production-style pipelines. Then we sit with you through the résumé, the mock interviews, and the offer negotiation.
Four things we don't compromise on
Practitioner-led
Every mentor is a working data engineer
Mentor bios with current company and role. Live war stories.
Depth over breadth
One role, taught completely
No “full stack everything” menu. Data engineering only.
Built for beginners
Assumes zero coding background
Prerequisite-free onboarding, plain-language teaching.
Job as the outcome
Success is an offer letter, not a certificate
Interview prep, portfolio, referrals, mock rounds.
Mind the gap.Then close it.
